Mike Farrell came back to England, having given up his job in America so that he could marry Vivien Kendrick, but she was still unable to make up her mind to marry him. The Dales returned home from Ireland. Mrs. Freeman is determined that when Coco comes to visit Elsie he must marry her; she has taken Maud French's vacant three-roomed flat for a week so that Elsie can stay there during Coco's visit. Richard Fulton was so irritated by Vivien's inability to make up her mind that he got Mike for her on the telephone, and she told Mike that she would marry him after all.
