All the family decided to surprise Mrs. Dale by getting her a dog. As a result five dogs arrived on the same day-two from Sally, one from Bob, one from Dr. Dale, and one which Mrs. Dale herself had chosen at Battersea. The Dales decided to keep two-the one from Battersea and one Sally had brought from the Ferne Animal Sanctuary. Mrs. Dale christened them ' Annie' and ' Mr. Fern.' Mrs. Morgan dropped her watch and broke it. The Nursing Home was officially opened.
