Mrs. Dale, the doctor's wife, records the daily happenings in the life of her family
Script by Jonquil Antony
Dr. and Mrs. Dale, on holiday in the South of France, made the acquaintance of a Mr. Luigi Marselino. Mrs. Dale lent him 10,000 francs and he never appeared to return it. Sonia Storme fell in the water on a pulpo fishing expedition; Richard Fulton jumped in and rescued her but, to his extreme annoyance, discovered later that she was really a champion swimmer. He decided to fly home early. Mrs. Morgan moved the grandfather clock and it stopped. At the last moment Jenny felt that she could not go through with her wedding. She went to London with her father to break the news to Clifford Pugh.

Three weeks after the Mars fleet took off on its six-months' journey to the Red Planet, the pilot of Freighter Ship No. 2 complained of the curious behaviour of his crew member James Whitaker. Little importance was attached to this at first, until Control based on Earth asked for certain information about Whitaker. Jet Morgan then began to have his doubts, and when he questioned Whitaker over the inter-com system, he knew from the replies he was receiving that something was seriously wrong.
