' May I,' wrote a mother, send a request for a story about the little girl who swung on a garden gate and said sometihing like this: " One big orange, two red cherries, three fat plums "? '
Though this description does not quite exactly fit the words of Amy Smith's story 'The Little Green Gate' (to be heard again tomorrow from Dorothy Smith), it does seize on its characteristic spirit, tale pleasure in rhythms and patterns of sound, which makes it so satisfying to young children. It is a pleasure to be enjoyed several times this week, both in the poems and jingles to be heard each day, and in today's story by Hilda Rostron, 'The Whistling Wind' (storyteller, Dorothy Smith) and in tomorrow's 'The Roller that Made a Good Road' by Eileen Matthias (storyteller, Daphne Oxenford).
The two remaining stories for the week have a different kind of appeal. They are 'Teddy Bear and Baby Mouse,' by Violet Statham, to be told on Wednesday by Dorothy Smith, and ' Spoon Faces,' by Irene Hope, to be told on Thursday by Julia Lang. Catherine Edwards introduces the programmes for the next two weeks.

Mrs. Dale, the doctor's wife, records the daily happenings in the life of her family
Script by Jonquil Antony
To be repeated tomorrow at 11.0 a.m.
Dr. and Mrs. Dale arrived home from Belgium with presents for the family. Dr. Dale learned that re-equipment of Parkwood Hill Hospital had started and that Bruce Laurie would leave in November, leasing his house to Dr. Gardiner. Gwen promptly wrote to Dr Gardner about the ground-floor flat. Sally took over her flat again from Philip Beel and Richard Fulton was jealous when he found them together. Later Sally was visited by a Mr. Rogers from the firm of E.A.L., a rival competitor. Bob was sent home from work with a temperature and Dr. Dale diagnosed tonsilitis.

In 1965 Sir William Morgan, rocket research scientist, launched a man-carrying rocket from New Mexico. But the rocket crashed on to the town of Las Vegas and killed a number of people. As a result the Anglo-American Space Research Committee temporarily closed the proving grounds.
