A programme for children under five
'My son, just four years old' writes a mother, 'has been waiting patiently for six months or more for a repeat of the tales of Sam and Little Wu. About once a week I have to repeat the story of the Muffin Man and his bell, but I am sure I am straying from the original, so we would both be grateful to hear it again, please, so that I can then continue the proper version for the next six months! He can't understand why so many tales are repeated and not "his special one," and he never misses a programme in case it is told when he doesn't switch on.' Here, then, is fair warning to both mother and son - Julia Lang will tell these stories by Mary Sole again this week.

Script by Jonquil Antony
To be repeated tomorrow at 11.0 a.m.
Last week Bob and Peter were on holiday, staying with Jane and Nicky Halbert. Jane and Nicky went shopping on the mainland and were unable to get back to the island because of a gale. Bob decided that he and Peter would have to cater for the guests This was a disaster! However one of the guests. Miss Fossett. eventually did the cooking and set Peter to wash up.
Isabel Fielding, who had taken Mrs.
Dale's diary home by mistake, brought it back. Dr. Dale told Alec that Miriam was going back to Canada for good. Alec became very angry and said he would not follow her. On Sunday morning the Dales had a telephone call from a hospital to say Alec Dale was there with appendicitis and was going to be operated on almost immediately. They had difficulty in finding Miriam but eventually traced her through a Canadian air-line company. She stayed with the Dales until Alec was out of danger and then said she was going home. Alec begged Mrs Dale to persuade Miriam to bring the children back to England and make their home here.
