A programme for children under five
Nursery rhymes, stories, and music

Among this week's stories for our under-fives is one in two parts by Diana Ross called 'Joe is Lost.' Older brothers and sisters who listen to the broadcasts for schools may have heard some of Diana Ross's stories - if they belong to the Lets Join In audience they are almost certain to have an enthusiasm for the Little Red Engine who gets a name - while the two we have already broadcast to the under-fives, 'One Little, Two Little,' and ' Baby Goes Out for a Walk ' (both from the book called 'Nursery Tales') have established themselves among their favourites. 'His favourite story up to date,' wrote one little boy's mother, 'is about John going to the farm with Mother and Baby, but he insists that the black hen lays three eggs. one for each of them! He has also provided some of the animals with babies, and I am expected to remember such additions as well as the original story.' Diana Ross designed these stories as flexible instruments capable of adaptation to the needs of the listener of the moment; she would approve of this little boy - and of his hard-pressed mother

Mrs. Dale, the doctor's wife, records the daily happenings in the life of her family
Script by Jonquil Antony
Principal characters this week:
Last week, Sally and Miss Kendrick agreed to manage a new branch of Elizabeth Russell's flower shop. Bob, still convalescent, read Maud French's book and found to his surprise that it was really quite a good one. It turned out that Dick Mutty had actually written to Gwen to tell her of his engagement but the postman had given the letter to Thompkins who had forgotten to pass it on. Dr. and Mrs. Dale tried to persuade Gwen not to see Esmond any more, but Gwen woutd not listen to them. A cable came from Canada summoning Alec and Miriam home because their little boy Carlton had been tnrown from his pony. Maggs arrived at Virginia Lodge with his nephew Art, who turned out not to be a little boy after all but a hefty young man of few words.
