Last week, Sally and Miss Kendrick agreed to manage a new branch of Elizabeth Russell's flower shop. Bob, still convalescent, read Maud French's book and found to his surprise that it was really quite a good one. It turned out that Dick Mutty had actually written to Gwen to tell her of his engagement but the postman had given the letter to Thompkins who had forgotten to pass it on. Dr. and Mrs. Dale tried to persuade Gwen not to see Esmond any more, but Gwen woutd not listen to them. A cable came from Canada summoning Alec and Miriam home because their little boy Carlton had been tnrown from his pony. Maggs arrived at Virginia Lodge with his nephew Art, who turned out not to be a little boy after all but a hefty young man of few words.
