From the Empire Stadium. Wembley The forty-seventh Amateur Cup Final is played this afternoon at Wembley Stadium between two Northern Clubs from the county of Durham - Bishop Auckland and Willington. Bishop Auckland has a record second to none in this competition. It has won the Cup seven times, and this will be its thirteenth appearance in the Final. Willington has only appeared in a Final once before, in 1939. against Bishop Auckland. There was no score at the end of full time, but Bishop Auckland scored three goals in the extra half-hour. London clubs have won the Cup for the last four years (and for the last three have monopolised the Final), Barnet winning in 1946 and Leytonstone in 1947 and 1948. Last year the match was played for the first time at Wembley, and Bromley beat Romford by one goal to nil.
