This broadcast celebrates the Silver Jubilee of a unique partnership in the world ol dance music — that of Oscar Rabin and Harry Davis. Rabin. who came to Britain from Riga, in Russia, as a child, had been running a five-piece band for five years when, in 1924, he met Harry Davis. At that time Harry was playing the guitar at the Pavilion in Liverpool, his home town. They joined forces, enlarged the band to ten players, thought up the familiar title, ' Oscar Rabin and his Romany Band, with Harry Davis ,' and opened in 1925, at the Palace Hotel, Southend.
