ANODISING by J. W. Cuthbertson , D.SC., F.I.M. and E. G. West , Ph.D., F.I.M.
Anodising is a process akin to electroplating by which the natural invisible film of oxide on aluminium is thickened to give a surface with many interesting properties. It protects the metal, acts as an electrical insulator, and can be dyed attractive colours.

The Essay Prize by JOHN BOWEN
The Essay Prize was not such a glittering reward-certainlv not one to be compared with an Oxford scholarship, but Peter Raymond had set his mind on winning it. When one of the competition iudges also happens to be his schoolmaster-father and impartiality is tinged with envy, the decision may provoke consequences out of all proportion to its importance.
