Bird Language
Why do birds sing? What is the meaning and purpose of the many and varied songs, calls, and non-vocal noises created by birds ?
DEREK GOODWIN and ERIC Simms offer some translations from the language of birds and discuss the function of these sounds in the birds' way of life
Charles Hartshorne examines the relation of bird-song to music and advances the idea that bird-song is a primitive form of music, birds enjoying the sounds they produce, as well as finding them useful
The programme is illustrated by the voices of British, American, Mexican, and Japanese birds

Since its foundation in 1945 the Society has aided many hundreds of men, women, and children, widows and orphans, many of whom are maimed or permanently disabled through privations suffered in concentration camps.
