Nurses, [address removed]
The Edith Cavell Homes of Rest for
Nurses, one at Windermere and one at Haslemere, were founded in 1916 as a memorial to Nurse Cavell who had always felt that trained and student nurses who were in need of mental and physical rest should have the opportunity to recuperate at a cost within their limited means.
Funds are needed for improvements and repairs to the Home at Haslemere.

For many musical masterpieces, we owe a debt to forgotten men who were either superb instrumentalists or generous patrons of music. But for the masterly clarinet-playing of Anton Stadler and Richard Miihlfeld, we should lack five splendid works by Mozart and Brahms; but for the largesse of Counts Rasumovsky and Galitzin we might not have eight of Beethoven's greatest string quartets. So, when enjoying Mozart's Oboe Quartet, we might remember its instigator and exponent Friederich Ramm of Mannheim; and feasting on Schubert's ' Trout' Quintet, we might spare a thought for him who commissioned it -Silvester Paumgartner, deputy factor of the head guild of Steyr, who was a considerable amateur cellist.
