Animal Senses
5—Evolution of Senses
In July 1858 the first papers of Charles Darwin and Alfred Russel Wallace on evolution by natural selection were read in London. In this final programme on animal senses, Professor P. B. MEDAWAR and Dr. W. E. SWINTON talk about the process of natural selection, which has given rise to such highly developed abilities as the sight of owls, hearing of bats, and the electric organs of certain tropical fish.

Appeal on behalf of the Paraplegic Sports Endowment Fund,. by Kenneth More
Contributions will be gratefully acknowledged and should be addressed to Kenneth More, Esq., [address removed]
The Paraplegic Sports Endowment Fund was established to enable men and women with paralysis due to injury or disease of the spinal cord to return to health and happiness through the medium of sport. Sport has helped to transform these severely disabled people into useful members of society, and the famous Stoke Mandeville Games held annually are today the foremost sports movement for the disabled in the world.
£ 35,000 is still needed from voluntary donations and subscriptions to safeguard this unique sports movement.
