As a boy, REGINALD L. OTTLEY worked as a ' jackeroo ' on a sheep station in the far south-west of New South Wales. A jackeroo, he says, is a cross between a jack-of-all-trades and a kangaroo. He tells of an incident from that time which now seems totally unreal to him.
