Miss Chubb's theatre-going started disastrously at the age of four in the Dress Circle, but she remembers with more pleasure visits to the Gallery in the 1920s, -particularly to musical comedies and plays with music that caught her fffncy, such as The Beggar's Opera, a D'Oyly Carte season, and some shows in which Jack Buchanan was the star.
