by C. M. Jackson
As Librarian to the Metropolitan Borough of Shoreditch, Mr. Jackson is often asked to identify curious objects that are dug up during building operations in the district. Sometimes he is able to oblige—sometimes not. And sometimes he can hazard a guess, as in the case of the old clay jar which was unearthed, whole and undamaged, by workmen the other day.

Appeal on behalf of King George's House by The Warden, Aubrey Townshend M.B.E. ,
Contributions will be gratefully acknowledged and should be addressed to [address removed]
King George's House, Stockwell, London, which is supported by the John
Benn Boys' Hostel Association, exists to provide a home for boys at work in London. Here they find an atmosphere of comradeship, recreational facilities, good food-and the sense of being in a real home.
The House is financed to some extent by the boys themselves from their earnings, supplemented by voluntary subscriptions through the John Benn Boys' Hostels Association. In this work the Old Boys' Association plays a vigorous part. Despite all efforts, the organisation last year faced a deficit of £2,900.
Adapted as a serial in twelve episodes by H. Oldfield Box from Anthony Trollope 's novel
' The Prime Minister '
Episode Nine

Narrator, Noel Iliff
Produced by David H. Godfrey
Pretending a concern for Mr. Wharton's loneliness, Lopez has taken up residence in his father-in-law's house, thereby relieving himself of the expense of maintaining a separate establishment. But Mr. Wharton is not fooled; he has realised that Lopez is in financial difficulties, and has sent him a message by Emily asking him to make a candid statement of his financial position. Emily has delivered the message, only to encounter her husband's fury.
Lopez's letter to the Duke of Omnium, demanding compensation for his election expenses, has unexpectedly resulted in the Duke sending him the entire sum—£500. Although Mr. Wharton has already reimbursed him for the same expenses, Lopez has decided to keep the money himself and to say not a word to Mr. Wharton.
