' The Prime Minister '
Episode Nine
Characters in order of speaking:

Pretending a concern for Mr. Wharton's loneliness, Lopez has taken up residence in his father-in-law's house, thereby relieving himself of the expense of maintaining a separate establishment. But Mr. Wharton is not fooled; he has realised that Lopez is in financial difficulties, and has sent him a message by Emily asking him to make a candid statement of his financial position. Emily has delivered the message, only to encounter her husband's fury.
Lopez's letter to the Duke of Omnium, demanding compensation for his election expenses, has unexpectedly resulted in the Duke sending him the entire sum—£500. Although Mr. Wharton has already reimbursed him for the same expenses, Lopez has decided to keep the money himself and to say not a word to Mr. Wharton.
