Four talks on the respective roles of India and China In the revolution taking place in Asia today by Cyril Philips
Professor of Oriental History in the University of London
I—Revolution in Asia
Fifty years ago the word Asian was hardly ever heard in this country, and the growth of Asian consciousness that lies behind it had hardly begun. How important is this development? And how far is it possible to generalise about the response of different Asian countries to the same influences? Is there, for example, anything in common between the present developments in India and China?
Professor Philips was educated in India and has spent much of his life in Asia. In this talk he tries to answer these and similar questions from the basis of his own study and experience. His talk is illustrated by readings.
