' Hullo! Last week I told you how we spent our first day afloat in Rag Doll and how we met an old friend, Loopy Lomas, in the train and later saw him aboard the boat Fallen Star, which Uncle calls a cluinbungie. The owner of the boat was called Mr. Pingleton, and he charged poor Loopy an awful lot of money to teach him about sail ng, because Loopy wants to sail round the world in his own boat and naturally wants to know a good deal before starting. But while we were sailing round the Solent, and bathing and fishing and joining in the local races, and having a jolly good time, the Fallen Star remained at her moorings for day after day and we could see and hear that Loopy was getting very tired of it indeed. One day he rowed across to Rag Doll and told us what he felt about everything ...'
