Occasionally we hear of a wife who loves her husband deeply enough to sacrifice herself so that he may And supreme happiness with another woman. It is, no doubt, the most searching test of devotion possible to the human heart; and yet-does such fanatical self-sacrifice achieve its object? Will not those for whom it is made live for ever with an unquiet ghost hovering between them? David Linden and his charming wife Judy are happy in the Linden farmhouse in Yorkshire until David's brother Henry brings home his new wife Mariella, Then Judy, who has always loved David more deeply than he loves her, perceives that a stronger love has entered her husband's heart. She makes way for them; and we shall see whether their love is fulfilled and perfected by her sacrifice or turns to dust and ashes because of it
