Cheerful gramophone records
Programme summary-
Records of Alice Faye
When a child of fourteen Alice Faye got her first job with the Chester Hale stage unit at the Capitol Theatre, New York. After touring with them she was engaged to do a dance speciality at Hollywood Gardens in Pelham Parkway. Then she appeared in the chorus of George White's Scandals starring Rudy Vallee, and afterwards sang as soloist with his orchestra and in his radio programmes. She was introduced to Twentieth-Century Fox when they screened George White's Scandals of 1934. She expected to be in Hollywood for six weeks. She is still there.
Among the films in which she has successfully appeared are Alexander's Rag-time Band, The Great American Broadcast, and Poor Little Rich Girl, which starred Shirley Temple, and in which Alice played the romantic lead.
