Written by Trevor Philpott.
Give me the splendid silent sun With all its beams full dazzling (Walt Whitman)
Most people regarded the South of France merely as a sun-soaked play-ground for millionaires. But in the wake of changes which have so drastically affected the French Riviera come vast developments from Lyons to the Mediterranean coast which can affect the whole of Europe.

A documentary film introduced by Trevor Philpott who tours the fantastic hydro-electric, nuclear, irrigation, and port development schemes on the historic river Rhone, and reports on one of Europe's most spectacular and visionary changes.

Additional material by courtesy of Compagnie Nationale du Rhone, Electricity de France, Caravelle Films, Shell International.
