Why does a baby draw its first breath? Doctors are by no means certain, but tome babies experience difficulty, and this is now considered a major cause of Infant mortality during the first week of life. For this reason doctors are paying increasing attention to the first minutes of life.
Outside Broadcast cameras of Swedish Radio visit the Karolinska Hospital in Stockholm to see how these studies are made on a new-born baby.

At one time pneumoconiosis was a scourge in the coal mines. Today research and treatment and measures to suppress dust keep the disease in check. What about other industries? Are they aware how important to them is the health of their workers? What problems do noise, repetition, and new materials bring? Should there be special local industrial health centres everywhere?
