Demonstrated by Sir Lawrence Bragg, F.R.S.

Why does one and the same thing, water, take up very different forms-solid, liquid, and vapour? Can you really see steam? Can air be liquid? These are some of the questions that Sir Lawrence Bragg answers in the first of a series of six programmes in which Outside Broadcast cameras join an audience of members and their friends at the Royal Institution in London.

Introduced by Peter Scott.

with H. G. Hurrell.

From his home on the edge of Dartmoor the naturalist H. G. Hurrell often rises early to film the wild animals and birds of the moor. One of his most difficult subjects is the fox, a wary and elusive animal whose keen hearing and sense of smell make him hard to approach and film.
Mr. Hurrell has also tamed a number of wild animals successfully, including a pair of otters whose antics in and around the swimming pool have been the subject of a most attractive film.

Written by William Shakespeare
The Pageant of English History

The burdens of kingship and of failing health weigh heavily upon Henrv IV. After his victory at Shrewsbury he has to organise a new campaign against the Northern rebels. Disappointed in Prince Hal, who returns to his customary low haunts in London, the King sends his younger son, Prince John of Lancaster, to negotiate with the rebel leaders. Falstaff goes off to Gloucestershire to muster recruits, and there falls in with a former acquaintance, a simple country Justice, Master Shallow.
