Celebrant and Preacher, The Vicar, The Rev. John G. Nicholls
St. John's, Carlton, Nottingham, is one of the most unusual churches on a housing estate in the country. Not only is the church original and progressive in design, but the Parish Communion, the main service of the day, itself includes some unfamiliar features. The celebrant stands behind the altar facing the people and before the consecration a couple from the congregation, usually husband and wife, bring to the altar the bread and wine for offering on behalf of all families in the parish.
