All through our lives, in every minute of every day our hearts pump nourishing blood to all the tissues of the body. About eighty times a minute blood pulses from the heart, leaving under pressure during each heartbeat but flowing smoothly back. It only takes half a minute to circulate through the blood vessels which channel it round the body. Today, Professor W.S. Bullough shows how the heart pumps blood round our bodies through the blood vessels, the arteries and veins.
