Seven years ago in a derelict mansion a dispirited man sat contemplating the failure of his ideals and hopes. To that house came a former aircraftsman, dying and in need of a home. The relief of this man's need, and that of others like him became from that moment a driving force in the life of Group Captain Leonard Cheshire, V.C., D.S.O., D.F.C.

In this outside broadcast he revisits the first of the eight homes he has so far founded, and introduces some of his friends - the incurable and disabled people who are now 'at home'
