During the depression in South Wales groups of people gathered together to try to forget their worries for a time by forming Gazooka bands-complete with costumes in the gayest of colours. The bands still flourish and viewers have an opportunity of seeing the finalists in a Grand Contest at Coney Beach, Porthcawl.
