Taylor is an unctuous man, given to uttering platitudes in a manner designed to make them sound profound. He has also given to argon, to talking in lordly fashion about his 'creative impulses'. One hopes that he writes in less stilted fashion; for he is a writer, in Spain gathering material for a series of articles. Against his will he has brought his wife Anna with him, and has left her to vegetate alone in the hotel. This is asking for trouble, and Taylor gets it...
