The annual series of children's Christmas lectures at the Royal Institution this year has been given by Dr. P. Dunsheath C.B.E. D.SC., F.Inst.P., M.R.I., who has seen talking on the subject of electricity. This afternoon Dr. Dunsheath gives the first of two additional lectures especially for television, before an audience of school children, in the Royal Institution lecture theatre in London.

During the last 4,000 years the cat has been a goddess and a pet, and has contrived to get herself painted, modelled, filmed, and photographed in many roles. In this programme an attempt is made to interpret the mysterious and versatile character of 'the sphinx on the hearth'.
