Oscar-winning composer Marvin Hamlisch (The Sting, The Way We Were, The Spy Who Loved Me) talks to Elaine about creating A Chorus Line. He also reveals his Essential Musicals.

Elaine's special guest is the multi-award winning composer Marvin Hamlisch. It's been said his music changed the face of Broadway and Hollywood; so much so that the New York Times called him, "a genius". He and Richard Rodgers are the only two individuals to have been awarded an Emmy, a Grammy, an Oscar, a Tony, and a Pulitzer Prize. He's also the man who introduced Elaine Paige to America and accompanied her at The White House. 

Today, Marvin recalls writing A Chorus Line, The Way We Were and Nobody Does It Better. Plus, he reveals his Essential Musicals which include Gypsy, The Music Man and Sunday In the Park With George.

Today Elaine chats with Grammy-, Oscar-, Emmy- and Tony-winning composer Marvin Hamlisch , whose formidable CV includes pop songs (Barbra Streisand 's The Way We Were and Carly Simon 's Nobody Does It Better), film scores (The Sting), hit stage musicals (A Chorus Line) and introducing Elaine Paige to America.

The men behind ABBA join forces with the BBC Concert Orchestra and a cast including Kylie Minogue and Chaka Khan for an evening of live music, hosted by Chris Evans.

How many people remember Abba winning the Eurovision Song Contest with Waterloo back in 1974? How many of you can hum an Abba song, have been to the stage show, or watched the film of Mamma Mia? The music of Abba has become a part of our lives and tonight is extraordinary because the creative geniuses behind the band, Benny Andersson and Bjorn Ulvaeus will be part of the celebrations in Hyde Park. Paying tribute to them are the musicians who played on the original Abba tracks, their musical director Anders Eljas, the BBC Concert Orchestra and a fantastic cast of artists from the worlds of rock, pop and musical theatre. Kylie Minogue heads a line up that includes Chaka Khan, The Feeling, Beth Nielsen Chapman, V V Brown and Nerina Pallot. Elaine Paige and Siobhan McCarthy re-create a moment from the original production of Chess; Kerry Ellis performs a song from Benny and Bjorn's latest stage musical, and the London Cast of Mamma Mia! deliver an all singing and dancing finale. Stellan Skarsgard and Sir Tim Rice join presenter Chris Evans as the entire company and Hyde Park audience say "Thank You For The Music"!
