BBC Radio 2 is a radio channel that started transmitting on the 30th September 1967. It replaced Light Programme.

Zoe Ball

Zoe joins Radio 2's weekend line-up to present the Saturday Early Breakfast show, after recent stints sitting in for Dermot O'Leary and Ken Bruce.

Each week Zoe has puzzles and difficult questions in Ball of Confusion, plus guest contributors Kirsten O'Brien, Hilary Oliver and Ambrose Heron take turns to round up family events and movies in Here Comes The Weekend.

You can also join the Sleepover Club. It's junior choice for the new millennium. If you've got a houseful of kids camping in the lounge for the weekend, or you're going to be up all night partying with your friends, then you can join. Every week Zoe and Emma Forbes will be inviting a group of members to pick a favourite tune and make a special dedication on Saturday and Sunday mornings.

The A-Z of The Beatles continues to work its way through their entire catalogue and reaches The Inner Light; Stuck On Two replays hits from across the Atlantic which didn't quite make it to the top of the chart; and Playing Hard To Get is for listeners who have a favourite song but who have lost the original record. Brian finds the track and plays it.

Sounds Of The Sixties began in 1983 and Brian has been at helm since 1990, bringing to the programme his distinctive voice and unmatchable experience of 60s pop shows.

Dermot has live music from Neil Finn of Split Enz, Crowded House and 'supergroup' 7 Worlds Collide.  There's also music from unsigned band The Red Deltas.

Dermot has live music from Neil Finn, the New Zealand singer who first rose to prominence with Split Enz, and wrote their biggest hit, I Got You, before forming Crowded House. Between 1996 and 2007, he put Crowded House on hold to embark upon a solo career, release two Finn Brothers albums, and bring together the supergroup 7 Worlds Collide with Johnny Marr, and Radiohead's Phil Selway and Ed O'Brien.
Finn's supergroup has re-united once more to record an album featuring new guest talents such as KT Tunstall and Wilco, as well as Phil Selway's songwriting and vocal debut. The Sun Came Out, is released next month and proceeds from the album will benefit Oxfam.
There's also music from The Red Deltas, an as-yet unsigned band whose debut album has been produced by Jay Reynolds (Just Jack).

With live sets by Liverpudlian pop-rockers The Red Deltas and New Zealand singer/songwriter Neil Finn , whose CV includes Split Enz and Crowded House, the latter due to release a new album later this year.

The final year of the swinging 60s was one of contrasts; from the optimism of Woodstock and the "giant leap for mankind", to the violence and despair of Vietnam and Londonderry. Meanwhile TV went colour, the Concorde and the Jumbo Jet were both unveiled and John Lennon went to bed.

The decade's final year was marked by momentous contrasts, from the hippy spirit of Woodstock, the peace activism of John and Yoko, and the optimism surrounding Neil Armstrong 's 
"giant leap for mankind", to the violence and despair of Vietnam and Londonderry. Also defining the era were radio hits such as Zager and Evans's In the Year 2525 (Exordium and Terminus), Thunderclap Newman 's

Bob Harris plays an eclectic mix of Americana, alternative country, indie, world, nu-folk and blues. Katy Lied join Bob to play live in session with new lead singer Katie Harnett.

It's only a year since Katy Lied released their first album and Radio 2 playlisted single. Now they have a new lead singer, London based Katie Harnett. Katie joins chief songwriter/guitarist Duncan Hamilton, bassist Ian Thomson and drummer Paul Burgess. 

The second Katy Lied album is titled Echo Games. It is again produced by Nigel Stonier, and features material written by Duncan Hamilton both alone and in collaboration with ex-Storys guitarist Dai Smith, famed singer-songwriter Thea Gilmore and also Stonier himself. Legendary Nashville based pedal steel player Al Perkins continues his relationship with the band by making guest appearances on two tracks.
