Each week Zoe has puzzles and difficult questions in Ball of Confusion, plus guest contributors Kirsten O'Brien, Hilary Oliver and Ambrose Heron take turns to round up family events and movies in Here Comes The Weekend.

You can also join the Sleepover Club. It's junior choice for the new millennium. If you've got a houseful of kids camping in the lounge for the weekend, or you're going to be up all night partying with your friends, then you can join. Every week Zoe and Emma Forbes will be inviting a group of members to pick a favourite tune and make a special dedication on Saturday and Sunday mornings.

Dermot has live music from award-winning British band, Athlete, and singer-songwriter Mr Hudson, whose new album was produced by influential American rapper Kanye West.

Athlete rose to prominence in 2003 with their Mercury-nominated debut, Vehicles And Animals. Since then the south east Londoners have sold more than a million albums and picked up an Ivor Novello Award for Wires. Having parted company with Parlaphone in 2008, and using money they'd begged and borrowed, the band set to work making their fourth album with American producer Tom Rothrock based in Hollywood and the band in Deptford. The end product is a musical summary of everything the band have been through; the good, the bad and the ugly. They have since signed to Fiction records and release Black Swan this month. 

Mr Hudson is a singer/songwriter from Birmingham who used to perform as Mr Hudson & The Library but has now left the books behind. His new album was produced by the influential American rapper Kanye West, who believes that his protege has the potential to be one of the most important artists of his generation.

Ivor Novello Award-winning indie London band Athlete (Wires) perform live to coincide with the release of their new album 
Black Swan. Plus a live set by Mr Hudson (ex-Mr Hudson and the Library), whose new solo album Straight No Chaser was co-produced by US hip-hop artist Kanye West.

Andrew Collins explores the persistent subculture of goth music with the likes of Siouxsie Sioux and Steve Severin of the Banshees and Joy Division's Peter Hook.

In 1979, a dark and moody sound started to emerge from the roots of punk and glam rock. Siouxsie and the Banshees, The Cure and Bauhaus all grabbed their eyeliner pencils, dressed in black and released moody albums.

Over thirty years on and the word "goth" still fills parents with dread. "Professional ex-goth", Andrew Collins explores the phenomenon. He finds that even the genesis of the term "goth" is disputed - was it Tony Wilson talking about Joy Divison, Siouxsie Sioux on the Joined Hands album, Steve Abbot of UK Decay or perhaps Ian Astbury of The Cult? Wayne Hussey, of The Mission and The Sisters Of Mercy, reckons the original goth was Johnny Cash.

After its heyday in the 1980s when The Cult could fill the Royal Albert Hall and unkempt teenagers everywhere modelled themselves on The Cure's Robert Smith's trademark look of big hair and smeared lipstick, goth music has retreated into the shadows. Andrew looks at what happened to goth after 1988, when the alternative music scenes of rave and baggy took over.

Goth has undergone a transformation, from a moody, provincial UK subculture to a transatlantic teen cult that has been blamed for high school shootings and self-harm among troubled US kids. But goth's influence on subsequent genres, including "emo", is clear. Now the look and name is associated with a myriad of styles from neo-classical to industrial. So much so that even figureheads like Gary Numan, who has been hailed as the godfather of industrial, can't explain what it is or where it comes from. One thing is certain - it isn't going away.

Another chance to hear Radio 2's ode to gothic rock (aka goth) - a genre of moody, introspective, ethereal, non-chirpy and at times droney music that emerged during the post-punk era of the late 1970s. Goths were swathed in black from head to toe, and identified with the "dark" pop of Siouxsie and the Banshees, Bauhaus, The Cure and Sisters of Mercy. Andrew Collins explores the origins and myths of goth, and looks at its modern incarnations (eg Marilyn Manson), including its cult pull with disaffected (and occasionally violent) suburban American youth. With input from 
Banshees Siouxsie Sioux and Steve Severin , ex-chart star Gary Numan , Peter Hook (ex-Joy Division), film director Tim Burton and regulars of Soho's Batcave club: Peter Murphy and David J (of Bauhaus) and Jon Klein (of Specimen).
