Another chance to hear a 2006 two-parter in which Bob Harris pays tribute to Mississippi-born country legend Tammy Wynette , who died in 1998, aged 55, following a remarkable career beset by personal and medical troubles. Wynette scored 20 US country number ones, including the two crossover hits D-I-V-O-R-C-E and, most famously, the UK chart-topper Standby Your Man. Plus the 1991 collaboration with the KLF, Justified and Ancient. The programme features previously unaired early demo recordings.
A stylistic shift for the programme sees Richard Balcombe conducting the BBC Concert Orchestra with singer Beverley Knight and saxophonist Ben Castle , recorded at LSO St Luke's. Presented by Ken Bruce.
