New series 1/3. Radio 2 celebrates the life and career of legendary sitarist Ravi Shankar , who entered Western consiousness first in the 1960s, when his then exotic Indian sound influenced the Byrds, the Kinks, the Rolling
Stones, the Yardbirds and, most famously, George Harrison and the Beatles. Shankar has also had an impact on jazz artists, and collaborated with Yehudi Menuhin and Philip Glass. Harrison's son Dhani presents the series, which features a new interview with Shankar, plus input from daughter and renowned sitarist Anoushka Shankar , Roger McGuinn (of the Byrds), jazz guitarist
