3/4. Paul Gambaccini pays tribute to R&B/soul/pop sensation Jackie Wilson. An electrifying showman and no stranger to excesses, Wilson amassed a fortune in hits including Reet Petite (The Finest Girl You Ever Wanted to Meet), Lonely Teardrops and I Get the Sweetest Feeling.
This edition recalls his work with Carl Davis, resulting in his career-defining 1967 hit (Your Love Keeps Lifting Me) Higher and Higher (1967). With input from Davis, Otis Williams and Jackie Wilson, recorded before his death in 1984, aged 49.
