This gala concert pays homage to the men and women who were serving in the Far East when the war against the Japanese ended 50 years ago. The Duke of Edinburgh and other dignitaries gather in London's Royal Albert Hall with veterans of the conflict to enjoy the music of, among others, Vera Lynn, the Romford Drum and Trumpet Corps, the South Wales Burma Star Choir and the Central Band of the Royal Air Force. There is a service of remembrance, and Howell James leads the community singing.
