Malcolm Taylor, librarian of the English Folk Dance and Song Society, presents a four-part series profiling collectors of traditions throughout the UK.
Describing himself as a serial collector, year by year, Doc Rowe has documented over 170 customs. His small London flat is crammed with cassettes, slides and books. He is not employed to do this work, so what drives him and what will happen to all this material in the future?
Doc works by becoming a part of the community he is recording, and the programme follows him to Haxey to see him in action and hear what his subjects have to say about him.
A Pier production
