Next Sunday the new luxury superliner Oriana sets sail on her maiden voyage from Southampton, the first luxury liner custom-built for the British cruise market, and John Dunn is aboard to preview the ship before she sets sail. Capable of carrying nearly 2,000 passengers, the problems of feeding, entertaining and safety are enormous. John finds out how a virtual floating city is managed and what systems and technology are employed to ensure that life on board is a pleasant experience.

As part of Radio 2's Country Season, the programme is presented from the deck of the General Jackson - the largest riverboat in the world - which steams along the Cumberland River between Opryland and Nashville, Tennessee. Nick Barraclough meets a nine-to-five jobbing songwriter, visits the Bluebird Cafe which launched a thousand country stars, the Country Music Hall of Fame, the Parthenon, the newly refurbished Ryman Auditorium and some of Nashville's lesser-known cultural backwaters.
