Edmund Wilson - critic, editor, novelist, reporter, poet, social observer - was perhaps the greatest man of letters of his time. A close friend of F. Scott Fitzgerald at Princeton before World War I, he embarked upon a writing career that continued unabated for nearly 60 years until his death last year.
