The eighth in a series of 18 programmes
Glyn Johns (Part 1 of 2) Introduced by Andy Peebles. Glyn Johns began his recording career as an engineer, contributing to many of the great hit records that a burgeoning British record industry was making in the mid-60s.
His development as a fully fledged producer was greatly hampered by his expertise and value as an engineer. In that role he worked with The Who. the Rolling Stones, The Kinks, The Beatles, Joe Cocker and Leon Russell.
In the late 60s and early 70s he began to gain more production credits and with the success of such albums as ' Who's next ', his conversion was complete. His sometimes uncompromising stance has in no way harmed his many lengthy and successful producer/artist relationships. His credits in the 70s include The Who, Eagles, Faces,
Gallagher and Lyle, Joan Armatrading and Eric Clapton.
A book to accompany the series will be available at the end of March from booksellers
