The album Diamond dogs ' marked Visconti's reunion with David Bowie , which launched one of the most consistently successful and creative partnerships in what is usually a transient business.
Along with a series of seven Bowie albums, Visconti continued to produce a wide range of other important artists, but now seems to be contemplating a complete change of direction - perhaps leaving record production altogether.
A book to accompany the series will be available in May from booksellers
