JOHN PEEL writes: ' There are two clear-cut approaches to rock appreciation. The first is the "wow! this is just like the last album, wow! " method: the second follows the who are these twerps and what are they doing? " line. Adherents to the first discipline would not care for The Ruts, those of the second have identified them as the hardest band to poke their heads out of the New Wave in quite a spell. Their first single, "In a Rut ". was recorded for the London community organisation People Unite and it Is a gem. The Ruts' second Radio 1 session. produced by Tony Wislon , should not be missed.'
