In 1688, under the monarch William of Orange, the foundations were laid for
Britain's present system of parliamentary democracy.
To mark the tercentenary of the 'Glorious Revolution' and Bill of Rights, there will be Anglo-Dutch celebrations throughout 1988 and 1989. Today HM The Queen and members of both the British and Dutch Royal Families join the Parliamentary celebrations at Westminster Hall.
There is an address from the Lord Chancellor and the Speaker followed by a speech from HM The Queen.
John Hosken is at Westminster Hall to describe this historic occasion.
