Buried Alive by JEREMY THOMAS
In 1876, a young impoverished Austrian countess came to be housekeeper in Alfred Nobel's Paris house. Nobel's only interest in life was his scientific work, especially the development of armaments. But through her efforts, over a period of 20 years, Nobel was gradually won around to supporting the ideal of world peace; an ideal with which his name is now synonymous.
