Indian Summer by JENNIFER JOHNSTON
Indian Summer is set at a crucial moment in Irish history - the autumn of 1920 when the violent struggle for independence was at its height. But for Mr Martin , an Anglo-Irish landowner in Co Cork, the date has a different significance - it is to be the realisation of a dream, the moment when he will present his plans for the re-afforestation of all Ireland. But there were other dreams in the Ireland of 1920 ... dreams firmly rooted In tragic reality.
