Brian Moore was born in Belfast, worked for the United Nations in Europe, became a journalist in Canada and now lives In California. His reputation as a novelist was established In the mid-50s with The Lonely Passion of Judith Hearne , The Luck of Ginger Coffey and Catholics. He recently visited Scotland to receive the Nell Gunn International Fellowship and Christopher Ricks took the opportunity to talk to him about his career and attitudes to writing.
