On Christmas Day 1950 the border between
England and Scotland was sealed for the first time in four centuries.

The act outraged many but delighted others who saw it as a blow for
Scottish nationalism.
Thirty years on. Finlay J. MacDonald tells the story and reveals how the stone came to contain a secret message, eluded its hunter and was returned to Westminster.
