I' it the price paid for a train derailed by rocks on the line, or the stigma of living on a slum estate?
How many times can a council afford to repair btoken windows, replace torn up trees, clean graffiti off walls and pavements? How much is added to the cost of a house to cover vandalism during its construction?
Is wilful destruction just human wickedness or a symptom of a sickness in our society? The balance sheet of wreckage and replacement is a surprising one. There is an amazing degree of agreement about the way to diminish vandalism. But vandals ... here. opinio.' divides. Who they are and how they should be treated are questions which breed questions.

Sir John Glelgud talks to John Miller
8: Juliet in a Pink Bath
'Gwcn Ffrangcon-Davies and I were engaged to do the Balcony Scene at the Coliseum. We had a terrible set, sort of pink balcony - Gwen looked as if she was in a pink bath when she came out. It went very badly, and one of the stagehands said to me in the last week, "You're doing it a bit better now". The Huston Sisters used to follow us and give a sort of imitation, they had Scotch accents, and they used to say, " A thousand times goodnight " and get a huge laugh right on top of our balcony scene - it was the only time I've ever appeared in a music-hall. 'The presidency of the United States would be a demotion for David Rockefeller,' was one comment on the chairman of The Chase Manhattan Bank and grandson of the oil magnate John D. Rockefeller, who is regarded by some as a conspiratorial figure and by others as simply a man with a vast experience of international affairs.
In a rare interview David Rockefeller talks to David Wheeler about his life and the extent of his influence.
