News reaches us with depressing frequency of more and more species of mammals, birds, sea-creatures, trees and plants in danger of extinction due to pressure from ever-increasing human populations and their resulting impact on the natural environment. This affects not just rare specimens but tigers, elephants, gorillas, whales and penguins. But if 'wildlife' disappears, can mankind itself survive? Just how much can organisations like the World Wildlife Fund stem the tide or is it just a tiny hiccup in the process of the survival of the fittest? How much are people prepared to curb their trading and leisure activities to help wildlife to survive? Are we in Britain prepared to sacrifice for the wildlife in our own backyard?

Put your opinions, fears and questions to David Attenborough, broadcaster and trustee of the World Wildlife Fund, and George Medley, Director of the World Wildlife Fund.
